Episode 3 - Gardening & Inflation & a Beef Bone Broth Recipe
The subtitle should be, “How not to eff up your bone broth, and how to fix it when you do.” Cause I did that!
Welcome to Episode 3 of Katiebird’s Garden Podcast. This episode is all about the elephant in the room…duh dah duh…INFLATION! If it hasn’t affected you yet, good. But I think everyone has thought twice about gas, the price of groceries, and even the prices of totally random things that catch you off guard in a store.
Like in early 2020 when many people were called to gardening for one reason or another, albeit boredom or necessity, this year is setting up to be another very popular gardening season. Some people may be inflation-proofing, increasing accessibility, you do you, gardening friends! As long as people are growing something, its a good thing.
In this episode I chat about how growing and preserving your favorite vegetables, herbs, and cooking pantry staples like broths can save you DOLLARS per meal.
In the end, I created 4 1/2 quarts of beautiful beef bone broth. I’m adding it to my pantry shelf by the chicken stock-I’ll be sharing that recipe too after we smoke our chicken bodies we received from my husband’s cousin!-and happy to have a useful ingredient on hand that I made. It’s comforting to know it is low sodium, no weirdo ingredients because I used my own dried herbs and its from a regional farm we supported.

Let me know if you enjoyed this episode-I can talk food for days, so if someone wants to hear, I’m your gal!
